Traditionally the focus for the first quarter of the year is to work with and run groups in the Spring Sports category. These usually include baseball, softball, lacrosse, and track. The good news is that many schools and spring sports are starting to re-open and have determined that they will have a season after all. Modified or abbreviated, but some sort of season nonetheless. As you know, Covid-19 impacted many spring sports in 2020 and so the need for fundraising and the ability to generate funds for these groups and teams is critical and perhaps needed now more than ever. Travel may be impacted or limited, but local games will be played and the need for equipment, uniforms, apparel, etc. will all be a need for these teams. If a group finds themselves thrown into a season and not much time to fundraise because their practices are limited and the season will begin soon - think about these two options:
SOG - see the weekly tip in this edition if you aren’t familiar with the SOG - Support Our Groups online sales channel. This is an easy way to sell and start immediately and get some funds coming in for the group for THIS season. Once the contract agreement comes in and is set up the SOG page can be set up immediately after that and the group could start in a matter of a few days.
Sprint - the one-hour fundraiser that a lot of reps use with their sports groups as their time is limited. These tend to be very successful as the players are together with their coach for this one-hour timeframe. Players come with a list of names and phone numbers and usually there is a friendly competition among the players (upper classmen vs. lower; infield vs. outfield; JV vs. Varsity; boys vs. girls, etc.). You get the idea. If you haven’t run a Sprint sale, reach out to the sales team (sales@savearound.com) and they will be happy to go over the Sprint Sales option with you and get you the needed support materials to be successful.
Do you know what SOG stands for? SOG ~ Support Our Groups ~ is the online fundraising offering for groups that don’t want to handle payment collection or book delivery, but still need to raise funds. Support Our Groups provides your group with their personalized shopping web page that can be customized to have the look and feel of the group. The chairperson or the rep can add a logo, photos, and text that tells the story about the group, why they are raising money, their goals, their plans, and any other interesting tidbits they would like to share with their customers. All SOG’s are delivered to the customer’s home address and generate 40% profit for the group.
